Possible Points deductionIt’s difficult to defend our Chairman, after the efforts of the players on the pitch in the latter half of this season, in his mistake not to inform us as managers in time of the 1 match ban imposed on John Hardiman that we did not enforce at the correct time, which in turn has probably cost us 3 points and probably 2nd place in the league. Geoff himself will be quite cut up about this, especially as it comes on the back of the problem we have with WFDC and their threat of court action over the floodlights issue. Geoff, in his infinite wisdom, thought that this matter had been resolved once we had received the ban and fine instructions from Worcs FA. He, however, was unaware that a copy of this letter was then forwarded to the league officials who have decided, quite rightly so, they must go by the letter of the law of their own regulations and fine us with points deductions. There have already been a couple of cases in our division this year – 1 team (Dudley Sports) deducted 3 points, 1 team (Shawbury) not – the difference being that the team deducted the points had been fined by their FA, the other team not. With news of this we will lodge an appeal with the Worcs FA to see if it can be reversed, as John Hardiman did serve his ban, albeit 1 game late, once we as Managers were aware of the ban.
My personal view is that we have to take our punishment on the chin, accept it, learn from it, and move on, he has not been on his own as an individual to cost us 3 points this season – myself and Craig have made decisions that we have felt upon reflection at the end of a game have been incorrect, players themselves make incorrect decisions on the pitch, so we must accept that Geoff is part of the ‘team’ and is prone to making mistakes also.
In defence of Geoff, he does have a lot of paperwork through his door regarding several players/teams, and to add to this, from receiving the notification, it was a month before our next game and it is easy to forget 1 thing from the many other things he has to notify us and other teams/individuals about within the club. Geoff has always done his best for the club and on behalf of myself and Craig, we would be grateful if people would refrain from thinking ill of Geoff for this genuine mistake.

A silly error but it does happen. Very well put though BOB. I could no longer sit by and watch you post replys to your own comments as no one else would join in mate so here i am. Whats the latest then? Is it a defo 3pts deduction. That will get Hardimans tally upto about 25 points that he has cost you with his lunatic defending ha ha.

We wish you all th best in your appeal, as you no we were deducted three points for a mistake and felt it was harsh, but to miss out on 2nd spot like this is very harsh. I think the Alliance should take into account the work on and off the pitch you have all put in at Bewdley and promote you anyway, you have finished in the top three the last two seasons and would be better prepared than Shawbury who finished bottom last season to make the step up.
All the best from dudley Sports

possible points deductionI don't know the full facts but haven't Shrawbury also played an inelligable player - If so i would expect that WFA should consider our appeal very carefully - Is there any collective lobbying that can be done?

Dudleysports – thanks for your comments; if Shawbury are to be promoted, then I’m sure everyone at Bewdley will wish them good luck, as it’s important that we show the MFA just how strong our league is (but we all know who really finished 2nd and who took 6 points off them! ).
Bewdleystu and Friend of Bob – welcome. As far as the appeal goes, we are trying to compile a case to take to the FA, as we cannot take it to the WFA as it is a League action we are appealing against. The main problem we are having is that we cannot get ‘hard’ facts about why Shawbury were not deducted 3 points, but it seems (and this is not set in stone) that the Shropshire FA were slow in notifying them that the player was suspended, BUT, the League knew AND the player in question knew! But like I said, this is all hearsay and conjecture and we are struggling to come up with any documented and dated evidence that will be required to make any appeal successful, but in true Bewdley spirit, we are giving it our all. All we are after is that ALL teams are treated equally for any unknowing fielding of an ineligible player.

Keep trying Dudley Sports the reason why Shawbury were not deducted points was because the player in question was not banned at all he had actually served his ban before he played a few weeks before. The FA & League looked into it & found no case to answer.

Funny that everyone in shropshire new the player in question was banned, the club you had him from reported you to the fa for not given them the seven days required, and that he was a banned player.
Bewdley have every right to ask questions, you rightley look after your club, but you can not blame Bewdley for looking into it, and not taking everything you say as red

Sammig: perhaps you can answer the following, simply yes or no?
24th November, did Craig Ryan make an appearance for you while banned
For this, did Craig Ryan get suspended for 3 LEAGUE games starting 24th January
Was the 3rd LEAGUE game from that date on the 9th February where Craig Ryan not only made an appearance but also scored
For this, did Craig Ryan get a further suspension of a further 2 League games

I presume Sammig doesn't want to answer your previous post -
What's the latest from the appeal for the reversal of the points deduction?

bewdleystu: The appeal procedure is quite involved with what we are trying to acheive and I will post on here when we have any facts.
As for sammigs reply, gotta be honest, never expected one!! The 'no case to answer' comment is straight from the Shropshire FA/WMRL. From what I can gather the Shropshire FA are the ones at fault, not Shawbury. From other comments on other websites/forums it does seem that the Shropshire FA are not the sharpest with their paperwork and it does seem that they need to get their act into gear and bring themselves up to speed and in-line with our other local County FA's........... to be continued!!
